Goa: bad tummies in Goa

After spending a great deal of time in Goa i have gained many usefull tips,dos and donts about Goa. I will start with a very usefull tip a close freind of mine whome lives in Goa Pallalum beach passed on to me. Not many people who travell to India understand why they suffer from Deli Belly, there are millions of causes of bachterial stomach problems which occur in Goa every year,some are related to poor hygeine,some to undercooked food,mainly chicken. The most common cause i have seen is what i would call Larger belly! This not being the correct name,but very fitting considering the cause.King fisher larger, Cobra lager, and last but not least Kings larger contains a large amount of Glycerine. Glycerine is a major ingreient used in Larger or beer in India and in just one bottle you will find a staggering 25percent of this ingredient! Now, Glycerine passed through the human stomach causes a laxative type of affect which i can assure you can be quite uncomftable indeed.Please use your own immagination on this matter! My tip on the above topic is this, please remember when drinking largers in India mix your drinking with short spouts of fresh bottled water, this will dillute the curdeling affect and hopefully stop the process mentioned above.Every traveller enjoys a so called drink up session, it is wise to remember that you are in a very poor and not so hygienic country so every little tip to stop discomfates helps, trust me i know first hand. Drink sensibly and always use the above tip and hey presto things should be o.k.

Goa’s Transport: featuring a unique form of transport in Goa: the yellow-and-black two-wheeler motorcycle taxi PILOTS

Goa’s main form of public transport largely consists of privately operated buses linking the major towns to rural areas.
Hired forms of transport include taxis, and, in urban areas, auto rickshaws.
A unique form of transport in Goa is the yellow-and-black two-wheeler Motorcycle taxi, operated by drivers who are locally called “pilots“. These vehicles transport a single pillion rider, at fares that are usually negotiated prior or after the journey.

In some places in Goa, there are river crossings which are serviced by the ferry boats, operated by the river navigation departments. These are generally FREE for passengers and two wheelers!
Goa has two rail lines – one run by the South Western Railway and the other by the Konkan Railway. Railways are only for inter state transport, there are no specific local trains like that of Mumbai.
Goa’s sole airport is the Dabolim Airport. In addition to regular flights, the airport handles a large number of chartered flights.

Goa is well connected by airline services to most major cities in India. All flights, national and international, to and from Goa, operate from the Goa Airport at Dabolim near the port town of Vasco-da-Gama.
Tourists at Goa Dabolim India Airport
The airport is about 30 kms from the capital city of Panaji and is owned by the Indian Navy. Major airline operators such as Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Sahara Airlines, Spice Jet, Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines have flights carrying passengers and cargo in and out of Goa. Besides these, a number of chartered flights land in Goa from UK and other European countries. The national airline Air India also lands a few international flights, especially from the Gulf countries.
Most of the local airlines have a contact phone number in the city as well as at the airport where the latest information about flight status is always available. The list of phone numbers is available in the travel services section of the website.
It is advisable to book your tickets well in advance, especially during the high peak tourist season of October to January when most flights run full. It is also essential to re-confirm your flight timings at least 24 hours before departure.
Most major international airlines usually have agreements with one or more of their domestic counterparts in India, so if you are arriving from abroad it is possible to book your onward domestic flight at the same time as you pay for your international ticket.
